Hrudayavani "Vani" Vellore is a Ph.D. student in the BXS lab whose research interests lie in studying the effects of spaceflight on human physiology and developing methods of preventing the negative effects of long term spaceflight. She is developing a computational physiology model to predict the risk of decompression sickness (DCS) in repeated frequent surface extravehicular activity (EVA). Vani earned her B.S. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University while working in the Bioastronautics and Human Performance Lab. In 2021 she received the Young Investigator Award from the International Society of Gravitational Physiology. In her free time, she enjoys bouldering and rewatching Indian movies.
